The propagation of electromagnetic waves in planar or spherically stratified isotropic media is described by certain well-known differential equations (, 1949 and 1958). Considerable use (e.g. , 1961a) has been made of exact solutions which have been obtained for special profiles of the refractive index. In this paper some further exact solutions are given for both plane and spherical geometry.
