The relationship of the solar sunspot cycle with the 10-12-year
stratospheric oscillation on earth is examined. The effect of cyclic
variations in solar energy arriving at earth on the stratosphere is
discussed. The stratospheric quasi-biennial oscillation and its
relationship to the solar cycle is addressed in some detail.
