It is noted that turbulent diffusion in the solar convection zone affects disturbances of energy flux, mean horizontal velocity, and temperature in different ways. Disturbances in mean horizontal velocity and temperature are transmitted virtually undamped from the bottom of the convection zone to the surface. If the horizontal scale is of the order of the solar radius, disturbances of energy flux are strongly attenuated. It is noted that the temperature disturbance associated with the differential rotation should therefore be very small throughout the entire convection zone or else it would be observable at the surface.
