The fluctuations in longitude of Jupiter's red spot are discussed. The
long-term fluctuations show behavior similar to the fluctuations of
zonal circulations on the earth from 1830-1950. The trimonthly
fluctuations have a temporal connection with the inferior conjunction of
Mercury from 1963-1971. Solar activity may be the key to both phenomena.
