Vega and Giotto data indicate that the explosive mechanism determines the interaction between Comet Halley and the zodiacal dust cloud. This mechanism leads to the generation of metal atoms, the emission of X-rays, and the production of multicharged ions of Fe, Si, C, and O. These processes are due to the formation of hot plasma clumps during the interaction between cometary and zodiacal dust particles with high relative velocities.
