In this review, I summarize what is presently known about the neutral atomic hydrogen in M31 and M33, drawing from an extensive observational lineage. Emphasis is placed on recent interferometric surveys conducted at the Very Large Array (VLA) by Braun (1990) and Thilker et al. (2001) for M31 and M33, respectively. Avenues for future research are also suggested in the context of a small number of unresolved questions.
