We propose exploratory Chandra observations of a sample of quasars from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey that were selected according to unique properties of their broad emission line regions (BELR), specifically the blueshift of the C~IV emission line with respect to the Mg II emission line. The C~IV blueshift is likely to be a good diagnostic of the line-of-sight structure of the BELR in quasars (Richards et al. 2002). Based on correlations with radio data and broad absorption line properties, we predict that those quasars with larger C~IV blueshifts may be seen more edge-on such that they are more likely to be obscured in the X-ray and will have harder X-ray spectra and alpha_ox<-2. These observations will help to place strong constraints upon the disk-wind model of the BELR.
