The Mg VIII emission line intensity ratio I(430.47)/I(436.62) is used to provide data on the quiet sun and coronal holes. Using the model of Kopp and Orrall (1976), electron densities of 10 to the 9th/cu cm for the quiet sun and 4.6 x 10 the 8th/cu cm for the coronal holes are found. The results support the previous density findings of Dwivedi and Raju (1980), derived using Mg VIII emission line data.
