The implementation of subarrays in the IR channel of WFC3 will allow rapid readouts of the IR FPA and therefore, enable observations of objects too bright to be observed in the full frame readout mode of the array. Currently, four sizes of subarrays are supported. This study, based on ground test data, shows that for a given illumination level, the measured signal on IR flight detectorFPA59 is independent of both the size of the subarray, and the sample sequence used to read out the array. This confirms that subarray readout mode can be used for on-orbit detector calibration.
