An automated computational scheme is presented for calculating the diffusion rates in the fundamental equations for diffusion due to gravity, heat flow, and concentration gradients in a multicomponent quiescent plasma. The fundamental equations of Burgers (1960) are reviewed, the three-component case is considered, and automatic computation of coefficients for the 6x6 fundamental system is described. The solution for drift velocity and true electric field is outlined, and numerical results are examined for an application of the proposed method to a mixture of electrons, protons, and helium nuclei in a gravitational field. These results are compared with those obtained by Montemerle and Michaud (1976). The program is also applied to a mixture of H(+) and doubly ionized Co-60, a plasma consisting of H(+) and Si(+), mixtures of H with fully ionized O and Si, and a plasma consisting of H(+) and He(+). It is noted that the automated method is rigorous in the limit of large Lambda (defined as the 'plasma parameter'), includes the effect of the electric field without the need to solve for it, and readily allows for the inclusion of such forces as selective radiation pressure.
