The linear conversion of MHD and atmospheric waves in an exponential conducting atmosphere is analyzed with allowance for the gravitational force and assuming a uniform vertical magnetic field. The conversion coefficients are found by solving a linear fourth-order differential equation. The effect of the tunneling of the waves through the region in which the geometric-optics conditions are violated is taken into account. The range is defined over which the conversion coefficients vary as the tunneling of the fast waves varies from zero to the maximum possible value.
