A critical review is presented of recent research concerning the star-forming region of Orion and suggestions are given for possible future observational studies of this region. Emphasis is focused on the relative importance of low-mass and high-mass stars. Topics examined include the initial mass function, the inefficiency of radiation pressure, and the high-velocity CO emission and low-mass stars. It is argued that a low-mass star causes the high-velocity flow in the Orion Molecular Cloud Core.
