Spectral classification of early stars from spectrophotometry of low dispersion IUE spectra is discussed. An iterative classification method based on spectral energy distribution, which allows for interstellar extinction variability and corrects colors for interstellar reddening, is proposed. As a first approximation, fluxes are dereddened, using the strength of the 2200 A feature as a reddening indicator and the mean relation between (A2200 - AV) and E(B-V). Two very broad parameters, X1 and X2 are formed. The mean relation between X1 and X2 is: X2 = 0.37 + 1.2 X 1. If the extinction curves for individual stars differ from this mean, their location on X1 and X2 plots is considerably displaced from the sequence represented by the equation. The X1 and X2 parameters of three Perseus stars are plotted. This shows that stars can be grouped according to effective temperature, surface gravity, and deviation from the mean extinction curve, using observed flux distributions over the IUE range together with V magnitudes.
