G116.9+0.2 (CTB 1) is a radio source clearly identified with a well-defined optical shell. In connection with the present investigation, a new map is presented of the 1.4-GHz continuum emission from CTB 1 with 2' resolution. In addition, a series of maps is shown of the 21 cm H I emission in a two-degree field centered on the supernova remnant (SNR) and covering the complete radial velocity range of galactic emission. A description is provided of the various features of the atomic gas which may be due to the interactions of the SNR with the nearby interstellar medium. Attention is given to the problem of determining a distance to CTB 1 using H I absorption measurements. From radio and optical observations, a probable distance and diameter for the remnant is derived, and its mean radio surface brightness is compared with others of similar size.
