On Apr. 23, 2002, Cluster crossed the magnetopause current sheet when it traveled outbound in the northern hemisphere. The interface between the cusp and the magnetosheath is clearly associated with sharp transitions of the magnetic field and plasma moments. These variations suggest that the interface is a current sheet rather than a turbulent boundary layer. Energetic electrons, proton, helium and oxygen ions were observed and their intensity peaked at this current sheet. During that time period, the Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) Bz component was positive. The geometry of the magnetic field preferred high latitude Bz reconnection. Cluster observed bipolar signatures in the magnetic field which are consistent with Hall effects in the reconnection process. The evolution of the ion and electron pitch angle distribution will be examined to determine which species carried the Hall current resulting from the high latitude reconnection process.
