Studies of emissions of millimeter-wave region lines such as carbon monoxide, at 2.6 mm, permit the physical, chemical and dynamical characteristics of dark clouds involved in stellar formation processes. Attention is given to such phenomena as the high velocity gas in Orion, which demonstrates that the carbon monoxide lines from molecular clouds are almost always wider than may be accounted for by thermal motions alone, the cloud around AFGL 490, an infrared source in which exhibits a carbon monoxide profile with the broad velocity wings of blue- and red-shifted flows, and the molecular jets of L1551, which clearly shows the outward flow of molecular gas from a young star in a bipolar pattern which accounts for the observed blue- and red-shift. The frequency of molecular jets is estimated in light of these observations, and the nature of the energy source sustaining the high-velocity outflows is discussed.
