Classical resonance theory is extended to include corrections due to
Saturn's oblateness. A single classical resonance splits into a band
structure, with individual resonances almost evenly spaced in radius
from the planet. When applied to Saturn's rings this theory predicts, in
detail, the structure of Cassini's division.
