TODCOR is a TwO-Dimensional CORrelation technique to measure the radial velocities of the two components of a spectroscopic binary. The main use of the technique has been to turn single-lined spectroscopic binaries into double-lined ones. This helps to explore the binary mass-ratio distribution, especially the low-mass regime, where the secondaries are usually very faint and therefore hard to detect. A generalization of the technique to multi-order spectra enabled to unfold the extraordinary nature of the binary stellar system HD41004, that hosts both a brown dwarf and a planet.
