Observational and theoretical approaches to the study of solar coronal X-ray and XUV radiation are surveyed and selected results of coronal observation are reviewed. The ionization states and corresponding emission lines of ions in the corona are discussed, and instruments available for the observation of coronal X and XUV radiation are presented. The determination of plasma temperature and differential emission measure from X-ray images is considered, and results are presented for coronal structures including active regions, loops, filament cavities, coronal holes and bright points with underlying photospheric magnetic fields and expansion of X-ray arches into the outer corona. Plasma diagnostics by means of high-resolution spectra is also discussed, and potentials for the determination of electron densities and plasma temperatures as well as nonthermal random motions and plasma outflow are noted.
