We present a subset of the results of the first IRAM key-project. This project is devoted to the analysis of the processes which drive the dissipation of the supersonic non-thermal support of molecular clouds, known to be at the origin of their gravitational stability. We made high-angular resolution extended maps of non-star forming regions. We give here a summary of the different observational properties, the main one being that the medium, although optically thick has an effective transparency, with a first interpretation of this result.
