We consider Alfvén waves as one of the possible energy sources for the acceleration of high-speed solar wind, emanating from coronal holes. We solve the linearized, low-beta MHD equations in a slab geometry for a leaky waveguide model of a coronal hole, assuming ky ? 0, where ky is the wave number along y-direction which is perpendicular to x-direction. We present the linear theory of coupled fast and shear Alfvén waves. We also introduce a symmetric expansion factor ? in edges of the slab-modelled leaky waveguide, which takes account of magnetic flux conservation theorem. We derive a new dispersion relation and present some preliminary results.
