MER Mössbauer spectrometers have the exciting potential to identify
and quantify relative amounts of Fe-bearing minerals, but interpretation
of these results has limitations. Spectral non-uniqueness, temperature
dependence, recoil-free fraction effects, and particle size must all be
considered.
