Seven specimens from five different fragments of the Sikhote-Alin iron meteorite have been analyzed for their content of 39 Ar, 38 Ar, 21 Ne, and 3 He. The 39 Ar- 38 Ar-cosmic ray exposure ages calculated from these data are (450 ± 20) × 10 6 yr for four of the fragments, that of one fragment is only (145 ± 11) × 10 6 yr. The discrepancy is explained as due to a collisional break-up of the meteorite less than approximately 150 × 10 6 yr ago.
