A statistical test for clarifying the nature of gamma bursts is examined. The test is based on the relationship of the number of detected bursts and the angular anisotropy of their source distribution to detector sensitivity. Functions for the number of bursts are derived which are characteristic of more realistic models of galactic sources (white dwarfs and neutron stars), nearby extragalactic sources (supernovae explosions), and remote extragalactic sources (collapse of nuclei of active galaxies). It is shown that the angular distribution of sources for each of these models should be quasi-isotropic, anisotropic, and highly isotropic, respectively.
