The VIRTIS instrument on Venus Express has been operating successfully in Venus orbit since the 12 April 2006. VIRTIS-M channel is an imaging spectrometer, returning images in 864 spectral channels ranging from 0.25 um in the UV to 5 um in the infrared. We present some preliminary analysis of images from VIRTIS-M, concentrating on atmospheric dynamics, i.e. mainly winds retrieval. In particular, we present:
- latitude dependence of zonal wind at roughly 50 km height, from nightside cloud tracking at 1.7 & 2.3 microns
- latitude dependence of zonal wind at cloud-top height (65-70 km), from dayside cloud tracking
- preliminary measurement of rotation rate of S polar dipole
- further images showing cloud structures indicative of wave activity.
