The bright W Ursae Majoris-type eclipsing binary system AE Phoenicis was observed with UBV filters during 1970 at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory. A significant asymmetry in maximum light was observed and evidence for a small orbital eccentricity was detected. The eclipses are complete, and solutions of the light curves based on the Russell method give k equals 0.57.
