It is shown that data concerning quasi-stellar sources contradict the form of their luminosity function proposed by Schmidt (1970). Source samples are chosen from the 3CR and 4C catalogs, and the radio luminosities of the sources are found to be weakly dependent on the optical luminosities. A contradiction is noted since Schmidt's form of the luminosity function is based partly on the assumption that the ratio of radio and optical luminosities is independent of the optical luminosity.
