A method based on an investigation of the muon-poor extensive air showers is employed to extend the search for high-energy gamma-rays to much higher energy regions. The Lodz extensive air shower array was used to conduct a search for very high energy photons from the direction of the Crab pulsar. The array is particularly suitable for such a study because it consists of a large muon detector which can be used to search for the characteristic muon-poor showers. The Crab has been observed for 5600 hours from 1975 to 1979. The observational data are discussed. The sample from the general direction of the Crab is compared with three background samples taken from the points on the sky located at the Crab declination but with angular displacements of 90, 180, and 270 deg. The spectrum of high and ultra-high energy photons observed from the direction of the Crab pulsar is shown in a graph.
