The study of the general phenomenon of HII regions continues to be a front of active research in modern astronomy. Through recent independent multi-wavelength surveys of star formation sites, planetary nebulae and supernova remnants in nearby galaxies, we have found that the particular HII region SP-44 (280 pc diameter) in the nearby galaxy NGC 2403 possesses several unusual properties. X-ray and radio emission have been found to emanate from this source, and high-resolution optical images (taken at Hα and [OIII]/5007) indicate a shape similar to that of an expanding supernova remnant, or possibly the collective expansion of several supernova remnants. We have investigated this source to test this physical interpretation of its properties, and our initial results are presented.
