We present the results of a 70 ksec ASCA observation and a 60 ksec ROSAT HRI observation of NGC 6946. The HRI data show the extraordinary SNR detected with the ROSAT PSPC resolves into two sources with a luminosity ratio of about 15:1. The ASCA spectrum of the SNR either shows evidence for an emission line at about 0.9 keV, if the continuum is modeled with a power law, or two temperatures, if the continuum is modeled with dual bremsstrahlung components. In the second case, no lines are detected. There is evidence that the diffuse emission component is harder than measured with the PSPC.
