Mass losses from SS 433 (a binary system consisting of a massive star and a neutron star) cannot be explained by stellar wind from the hot massive star. There is a rapid flow of gas through the inner Lagrangian point; and it is suggested that a mechanism should be active which expels this gas. It is possible that this mechanism is a propeller effect due to the fast rotation of the neutron star with a relatively weak magnetic field. The observed X-ray emission is not associated with gas accretion onto the compact component of the system, but is due to the interaction of expelled clouds with the surrounding medium. Attention is also given to the variability of the radio emission of SS 433 due to clouds rapidly moving in the plasma surrounding the source.
