It is pointed out that the Liapunov characteristic numbers (LCNs) are good indicators of the stochasticity of mappings or dynamical systems. Since, however, the LCNs and the Kolmogorov entropy depend on the norm, they are not in general invariant under a coordinate transformation. The conditions under which they are invariant under a coordinate transformation are given here. Numerical examples are provided.
