The photometric box concept (Golay, 1969) was used to determine the distance modulus of the Hyades, Coma Berenices and Praesepe clusters. Data contained in the Geneva Photometric Catalogue (Rufener, 1980) were applied, and only those stars belonging to the Gliese Catalogue of Nearby Stars (1969), having a luminosity class V and an absolute magnitude quality A, B or C were selected. A distance modulus of 3.12 plus or minus 0.35 was found for the Hyades, 4.44 plus or minus 0.22 for Coma Berenices and 6.13 plus or minus 0.20 for Praesepe. Taking into account the effect on the trigonometric parallaxes described by Lutz and Kelker (1973), a distance modulus of 3.40 plus or minus 0.29 was derived for Hyades, 4.66 plus or minus 0.12 for Coma Berenices and 6.26 plus or minus 0.23 for Praesepe.
