An 8 day deep MERLIN observation of the starburst galaxy M82 at 5 GHz has been used to study over 50 of the compact sources in the central region, including supernova remnants and H II regions, producing the most sensitive images of this galaxy to date. In addition, global very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) observations at 18 cm have enabled detailed observations of the most compact sources in this starburst and have been used to follow their expansion. Simultaneous MERLIN 18 cm observations have been combined with the latest epoch of global VLBI data to produce high fidelity, high resolution images of the majority of the SNRs in M82 for the first time at this frequency. We present here an overview of these observations and results.
