Population Synthesis: Blue Galaxies, Population Synthesis: Compact Galaxies

The authors introduce the definition of stellar cluster and the stellar population synthesis method. Then they describe the observation properties, the importance of blue compact galaxies (BCGs) study, and list the BCGs sample that have been observed with the 2.16 m telescope at the Xinglong Station of Beijing Astronomical Observatory. On this basis, the authors apply the population synthesis method based on star cluster integrated spectra to some BCGs optical spectra. They derive not only the stellar population (different ages and metallicities) percentage contributions at λ = 587.0 nm for each BCGs, but also the star formation history and the interstellar reddening value of these galaxies.
