Present understanding of the Pluto-Charon system is surveyed. The use of
transits and occultations in the system to study surface features of the
two bodies and to determine their diameters is addressed. The
measurement of the system's mass using data on Charon's orbit around
Pluto is reviewed. The nature of Pluto's atmosphere is discussed.
