Scientific paper

The present observational research on galaxies in the infrared is
reviewed. It refers not only to normal galaxies but also to peculiar
galaxies, such as quasars, Seyferts, BL Lac objects and starburst
galaxies. Possible radiation mechanisms in the infrared for such objects
are discussed.
