On the basis of the law of conservation of momentum, it is shown that
the motion of a point through the ether creates and emits not spherical,
but rather elliptical waves. This finding could then be used to
interpret the Michelson-Morley experiment, star aberration, the Doppler
effect, and the change of wavelength due to the Compton effect.
