With objectives to model star formation in radio galaxies, we present results of a starburst model, built by coupling the two codes PÉGASE and CLOUDY. Continuum and emission line data are used to derive the properties of a sample of local starbursts. Data are well reproduced with a new relation between the ionization parameter and the metallicity. Colors and Hα equivalent widths indicate that: (i) an underlying stellar population is needed, and (ii) burst ages span the range [0, 6] Myr.
