A positive detection of the 0.511-MeV annihilation line from the inner Galaxy is reported. The observation has been performed with the Figaro II experiment (field of view 77 deg) during a balloon flight from Charleville, Australia on November 25-26, 1988. Assuming a single point source the flux is 0.00224 + or - 0.00041 photons/sq cm sec, while for an extended, disk source the differential flux is 0.00191 + or - 0.00032 photons/sq cm sec rad at the Galactic center.
