It is shown that the exterior solutions of the Robertson-Walker metric
in the Lyttleton-Bondi universe with cosmological constant are, in
general, those space-times which represent stiff matter fluids in
general relativity theory. This shows that a result stated by Varma and
Roy (1987) is incorrect.
