A detailed photometric mapping of the standard elliptical galaxy NGC 3379 is presented, based on photographic and CCD images in B light. The study covers the range from mu(B) = 18-29 mag/sq arcsec. The flattening and orientation profiles of the galaxy isophotes are given out to a = 7.5 arcmin. Comparison with the standard photometry by de Vaucouleurs and Capaccioli (1979) shows excellent agreement, despite the noticeable differences in the observational material.
