Research conducted on the Antarctic meteorites is discussed. The relation between Antarctic meteorites and the Antarctic ice sheet covering is examined; the meteorites are associated with old, blue ice upstream from a barrier. The collection procedures and analyses of the samples are described. Studies of eucrites, naturally transported lunar samples, and shergottites are considered. Observed differences in the characteristics of non-Antarctic and Antarctic meteorites, and Antarctic samples from different areas of the continent are analyzed.
