Results are presented of a statistical analysis of H-beta and C IV 1550 line widths and optical luminosities for a large sample of Seyfert 1 nuclei, quasars, and broad line radiogalaxies. Physical properties of the broad line radiogalaxies, including the accretion process itself in the framework of gravitational models, are deduced. For high-luminosity quasars, the gravitational mode used may be questionable in view of the very large masses involved.
