Intergalactic Medium
Scientific paper
A large amount (about half) of baryons in the local universe is thought to reside in a so-called warm-hot intergalactic medium. Although many researchers are trying to detect it, its existence is not observationally confirmed. Cluster vicinities for the warm-hot intergalactic medium using deep X-ray observations have been searched. The observations performed so far are reviewed and the prospects of future studies are shown.
