We have observed 5 gamma-ray bright blazars in the B and R bands using the Maria Mitchell Observatory 17-inch Dall-Kirkham and 24-inch Ritchey-Chretien reflectors during 2009. In several of the blazars, we have detected variability on a timescale of days to weeks; in 3C 454.3, the flux varied by roughly an order of magnitude. We supplement our optical R band observations with data taken at other telescopes, including (for BL Lac) RXTE. In addition, we use public data from the Fermi Gamma-Ray Space Telescope's Large Area Telescope. We further support our dataset by comparing our multi-wavelength light curves with 43 GHz VLBA images of the radio jets at 43 GHz for all of the objects. We discuss the connection between variations in the optical bands and at other frequencies, as well as the physical constraints that time delays impose on where the emission originates. The research at Boston U. was supported by NSF grant AST-0907893 and NASA grants NNX08AJ64G (ADP), and NNX08AV65G (Fermi). The research at Maria Mitchell Obs. was supported by the NSF/REU grant AST-0851892 and by the Nantucket Maria Mitchell Association.
