We have measured the optical reflection spectrum of the Kuiper Belt object 1993 SC at heliocentric distance R=34 AU. We find a spectrum that is intermediate in slope between those of the Centaurs 5145 Pholus and 2060 Chiron. The Kuiper Belt objects and Centaurs thus cannot all be characterized by extremely red colors; rather, they exhibit a wide range of colors, suggesting the presence of diverse surface materials. Possible origins for the inhomogeneity in surface composition are suggested.
