Solar Flares: Tidal Effects, Planets: Tides

Scientific paper

The observed distributions in heliographic longitude of 1119 solar flares occurring in a 6.5 yr segment of solar cycle 19, as seen from the orbital positions of Jupiter and Venus, have been investigated in relation to 5 theoretical hypotheses (THs). By comparing these THs with observed distributions TH 5, "uniform random + horizontal and vertical tidal force", is the best of them. The influences of planetary tides on solar activity are significant effects.
