The galactic center (GC) teems with transient phenomena at all wavelengths. While slow radio transients have been detected toward the GC both serendipitously and systematically, the characterization of these sources has typically suffered from poor spectral and temporal coverage. The ongoing ATA Galactic Center Transient Survey (AGCTS) improves on previous work in both of these domains. In the frequency domain, the AGCTS surveys the GC at 1.43 and 2.01 GHz simultaneously using two correlators of the 42-element Allen Telescope Array (ATA-42). In the temporal domain, AGCTS observations are conducted about four nights a week and have been running for more than six months. During a typical night, 25 square degrees near the galactic plane are observed for a total of 3 hours. The AGCTS dataset will thus have excellent temporal sampling of a large area with spectral index information. We present some early results and discuss our analysis techniques. While the correlator observations proceed, three beamformers are used to conduct a SETI search in the field of view. These commensal observations are discussed in another poster in this session ("The ATA Galactic Center Survey: SETI Observations in 2009” by P. Backus).
