We have discovered low-luminosity active galactic nuclei (AGNs) in over 30 nearby dwarf galaxies. These objects, some with absolute magnitudes fainter than -17, are the smallest galaxies known to contain central black holes. Correspondingly, the black holes they contain are virtually certain to be in the MBH = 103-106 M&sun; range critical for investigations into the joint evolution of galaxies and supermassive black holes. We summarize the methods used to find these objects and the characteristics of their host galaxies (luminosity, stellar mass, and morphology) and nuclei (luminosity, AGN type, and non-optical properties).
